Project
Wealth for BB&T

The purpose of this project was to add a "Wealth" section for BB&T's website. This would primarily focus on affluent individuals and their financial needs. IT serves as a one-stop provider of financial advice, investments, fiduciary, insurance and traditional banking.
The design had to reassure the client's in the bank's ability to manage their fortunes, and to provide them with a sense of stability for their investments.

My role

Using various tools of design, I had to create, design, and develop the Wealth section on BB&T.com. This included: a home page, four category pages, and 45 inside pages. The process started with a design for the homepage following, after approval, category page designs. This was followed by developing HTML for each page and testing it for workability on various internet browsers.

Challenge

I wanted to present a design that would stand out from other personal and business pages on the website. I believed that the section had to be a little different and have a feeling of "wealth and stability." I had to convince the product managers and upper management that modifying the prescribed style guidelines was worth it from an artistic sense. I presented them several mock-ups, three with the prescribed design and one with my idea.

Colors, Typography

I chose black and gold which go perfectly with the burgundy color of the BB&T logo. I chose Georgia font for titles. That was the first time BB&T used different colors and design elements from other sections of its website. The wide hero image, black rich bar with gold sophisticated text, gave it the feeling of wealth and financial stability that I ultimately wanted to represent.
